Outsourced CFO

A Chief Financial Officer is vital to the success of any organization. But if you are not ready to engage a full-time CFO, an outsourced CFO may be the next best choice.

Daren M. McDonald, CPA, has been or is currently the CFO/outsourced CFO/treasurer for a direct mail nutraceutical distributor, a women’s domestic violence shelter, a wholesale organic bakery, a chorus and orchestra company, a software development company, an investment company, a registered money management group, and others. Typical CFO duties include: overseeing month-end close operations, including review of journal entries and reconciliations; developing the overall budget for operations, and preparing interim variance reports; management of cash, including cashflow projections and management of credit lines; working with bookkeeping staff to ensure uniformity and adequacy of entries into the accounting package of the company; development of projections and forecasts; development of financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including supporting outside auditors; analysis of key performance indicators, ratios and metrics, including design or creation of business models for planning functions; integration of the financial process with the larger scale picture of the strategic vision of the enterprise; management of payroll, payroll tax returns, and payments; income tax planning and/or preparation; primary contact for tax authorities; an adviser for the executive team regarding matters of operations, contracts, and finances.

As similar as all business is, each individual business is very different, with different priorities to finance, different factors and keys to growth, different analysis and different demands. Even though outsourced, we believe in getting to know the companies very well, and will visit the company in person from time to time.

As a firm, we do not believe in hourly billing for this service. After interviewing with you, we prepare fixed price agreements to cover the range of services you require for your business.

Tax Services

We provide traditional income tax and payroll tax reporting services to a select clientele. We prefer to work with individuals who have businesses, or substantial investment activity. We are generally a good fit with small to medium size businesses that are not listed on an exchange. We have specific expertise in the industries of construction, homeowners associations, real estate, not-for-profit, investment companies, e commerce,  and manufacturing.

Financial Planning and Estate Planning

We provide counsel and work with other professionals, including money managers and attorneys, to develop a complete plan for the development of your finances and estate to meet your goals. We enjoy coming up with unusual solutions to unique situations. We will also work with your asset protection specialists.
